2. The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
2 Samuel 23:2.
King David spoke nearing the end of his life, saying, "What I am about to say is not my words, but God's Spirit speaking through me."
The God of Israel, the Rock, the Stone the builders refused, the solid foundation of our salvation, is Christ the Lord.
He said that he who rules over men must be just, righteous, fair, and do what is right, ruling with a deep respect and reverence for God.
Power with no reverence for God becomes abusive.
A ruler who reverences God brings life, blessings, and hope.
David admits in verse 5, that his family and kingdom have fallen short.
But God's promise of an everlasting covenant, which is fulfilled in Christ, is sure.
David built an altar to God on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite to stop a plague on the people, and after his death, his son Solomon built on the same site the Temple of Solomon, on the Temple Mount, the place where Christ will return.
The promises of Christ are "yes" and "amen."
All who believe and obey shall never be disappointed.
They shall share the eternal reward of Christ Jesus, the Son of the Living God. Amen.
