In other words, the american citizens that are buying Chinese products will have to pay a 50 percent tariff. That's the way tariffs work.

Trump lies like a rug and people are too stupid to understand it. Whoever imports the Chinese product has to pay the 50 percent tariff on it, and then they pass that on to the consumer that buys it from them.
