BREAKING: Sen. John Fetterman receives no support for re-election from Pennsylvania House Democrats!
In a stunning sign of deep fractures within Pennsylvania’s Democratic Party, not a single member of the state’s Democratic House delegation is willing to publicly back Sen.
John Fetterman (D-PA) for re-election in 2028 as a Democrat. According to Punchbowl News, when asked directly, zero lawmakers would endorse his bid to return to the Senate under the Democratic banner.
The report highlights growing tensions: Fetterman, once hailed as a progressive champion with his signature hoodie and tattooed arms, has charted an increasingly independent course.
He’s broken with party orthodoxy on issues like border security, Israel, and even occasional alignment with Republican priorities under President Trump. That maverick streak—praised by some as principled centrism—has clearly alienated the progressive base and many of his own colleagues.
Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) said he’d “be very surprised” if Fetterman even runs in a Democratic primary. Others, including Rep. Chris Deluzio, cited serious disagreements.
The silence speaks volumes. Pennsylvania House Democrats appear to be closing ranks against one of their own, with whispers of potential primary challengers like Boyle or others already eyeing the seat.
Yet Fetterman remains broadly popular with Pennsylvania voters overall. A recent Quinnipiac poll showed 46% approval statewide, including overwhelming support from Republicans (73%-18%). Among Democrats, however, he’s underwater at 22%-62%.
His crossover appeal has made him a target for the left, who view him as having “burned bridges” by refusing to toe the progressive line.
Fetterman has positioned himself as a pro-working-class Democrat who puts Pennsylvania first—supporting fracking, tough-on-crime policies, and strong national security.
But in today’s polarized Democratic Party, independence comes at a cost. Will he run as a Democrat anyway, switch parties, or go independent? Could this open the door for a more progressive challenger in the primary?
This story underscores a larger truth: the Democratic Party is struggling to accommodate moderates who refuse to march in lockstep. Fetterman’s hoodie may still be iconic, but his political future in the party that elected him looks increasingly uncertain.
Pennsylvania voters will ultimately decide in 2028, but the cold shoulder from his House colleagues sends a clear early message: the establishment is not on his side.

God forbid, the one Democrat senator, who after his near death experience, and now votes for his constituents, get backing by any other Democrat.
