There is often a red ribbon tied around it — this is a sign for passers-by not to come close. It is better to stay at least a couple of meters from the tree. The fruits of mancinella are like ranetki, but one like this «ranetka» will send you straight to the emergency room. No less poisonous and caustic is the milky white juice of mancinella — one drop leaves blisters on the skin, dermatitis, swelling or burn. The bark is also poisonous — if you set fire to a tree, the branches will cause acrid smoke, which can make you blind.
