27. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:27.
Jesus in verses 25-35, explains what the price of being His disciple costs.
A disciple is more than a believer, the disciple shapes their entire life around Christ's, teaching, His examples, and His mission.
The disciple lives like Jesus, following His way of life, applying His teachings, in daily life, habits, and relationships.
Showing compassion, forgiveness, and humility, helping others to grow in faith in Christ.
This is the cost, nothing, family, work, property, finances, can come before Christ, and if He says give it up, your love for Him, will obey all He asks.
We must be willing to suffer, and be rejected, and sacrifice what ever we may, right up to our very life. As Christ did for us.
Follow Christ is not easy, it is not comfortable, it means dying to self and sin, the old man must die, and the new creature must mature.
We must be transformed, having a new flavor, Christ speaking to the crowd used salt as an example, if the salt had no flavor, or could not preserve food, what was it good, it would be thrown out.
Salt here is a disciple, who has the distinct flavor of Christ.
His Holiness, Love, Truth, and Faithfulness, if we do not have this flavor, we will be cast out. Amen.
