Taya Kyle - American Wife May 26, 2025 · Today is a solemn day, a day to reflect with love and gratitude for those who have served and sacrificed their life while serving. It's a day to remember their bravery and the weight of their sacrifice. When Chris was with us, on Memorial Day we would take our children to a local cemetery, find a fallen soldier, and pray for them and their family. ��We would also remember our service friends who carry the weight of loss. In those moments, we were all one, united in our shared experience of sacrifice and service. More than once, at the cemetery, I recall asking, “Do you want me to pray?” He would nod. I would imperfectly get through a prayer with a heavy heart. ��We would wipe our tears, hug each other, and do something as a family to celebrate hard-won freedom. ��I was talking with one of Chris’s teammates earlier this week. We weren’t talking about Memorial Day yet it occurs to me, perhaps especially on Memorial Day, that there is nothing to glorify about war. There is nothing to question about whether the wars are just or not. There is only dedicated time to hold space for people who felt called to do whatever they could in answer to whatever they were told was needed by people they agreed to serve for ideas and people they thought were worth their own life, future, and earthly family experience. God bless all who serve, all who have lost, and all who remember. It's our duty to honor their memory, and in doing so, we uphold the values the offered their lives to defend. God bless you. ❤️🇺🇸
