Disgruntled Worker Torches Massive California Warehouse in Revenge Arson
A bitter warehouse employee turned a huge Kimberly-Clark distribution center in Ontario, California, into an inferno early Tuesday, destroying a 1.2 million square foot facility packed with paper goods that supplied tissue products for roughly 50 million Americans.
Chamel Abdulkarim, 29, an employee of third-party logistics firm NFI Industries, allegedly filmed himself on social media igniting pallets while ranting that the company should have paid workers enough to live. He complained about low pay and mocked the cheap inventory going up in flames.
The six-alarm blaze erupted around 12:30 a.m., forcing the evacuation of about 20 workers with no injuries reported. It took 175 firefighters from multiple agencies to battle the raging fire fueled by endless stacks of paper products. Twisted metal and charred ruins now mark the site, with thick smoke hanging over the industrial area for hours.
Abdulkarim faces multiple felony arson charges and is being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center. This act of pure destruction highlights the entitlement and rage boiling over in parts of the workforce—where some would rather burn it all down than work hard and build up.
Throw the book at him and lock him away for good. No excuses for torching American jobs and supply chains over a paycheck grudge.
