Meet Ana Rosa Rodriguez.
She survived a late-term abortion attempt.
At 32 weeks in utero, her mother, Rosa, visited Abu Hayat’s notorious “Butcher of Avenue A” abortion facility in New York City in 1991.
Rosa, who was then 20 years old, told Hayat that she had changed her mind and didn’t want to go through with the abortion. “He said that it was impossible to stop, that I had to continue,” Rosa told New York Newsday. Hayat’s assistants proceeded to forcibly hold her down and sedate her.
When she awoke, she was told that the abortion was incomplete and that she should come back the following day. However, due to severe pain and bleeding, she was rushed to a hospital that night. Five hours later, baby Ana Rosa was born, missing her tiny right arm – torn off during the brutal abortion attempt.
This is the reality of a late-term dismemberment abortion, a procedure that people aren’t supposed to survive. Yet, fortunately, Ana did.
Late-term abortions exist, but they need to stop.
Ana Rosa Rodriguez’s story is just one out of many.
