A UK surgeon, driven by a sexual fixation on amputation and financial gain, pleaded guilty to orchestrating an insurance scam by having his own legs amputated, authorities reported.
Neil Hopper, a 49-year-old vascular surgeon, deliberately froze his legs in ice and dry ice for eight hours to necessitate their removal, falsely claiming sepsis to deceive insurers.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of insurance fraud and three counts of possessing extreme pornography at Truro Crown Court, per BBC News.
