Peter Skyllberg was found alive in northern Sweden after surviving nearly two months of snow in his car as outside temperatures plummeted to –30°C (–22°F). Discovered by snowmobilers, his vehicle had been buried since December, leaving him trapped in what doctors later called an "igloo effect." The compacted snow insulated the car, preserving enough heat to keep him alive.
Skyllberg survived by eating snow to hydrate, wrapped in a sleeping bag with warm clothes, although he was not. When he was brought to the hospital, he was emaciated but conscious and able to communicate. The amazing doctors realized that survival in such conditions was nearly impossible.
Skyllberg lived in his car and lived like a loner in nature.
