Her name was Alice Neri, she was 32 years old, a mother. On 18 November 2022, she was in her car, smoking a cigarette, as she often did. An African immigrant, Mohamed Gaaloul, approached her. He made advances towards her, which she rejected. He then tried to r*pe her; she resisted with all her strength, and signs of a struggle were later found on her body. Subsequently, he st*bbed her seven times, placed her in the boot of the car, and set the vehicle on fire. The body was charred. The condition of the remains did not allow it to be determined whether the r*pe had taken place or not, though her mother believes it did. The Tunisian man fled to Germany, but was arrested by German police. While in custody, he instructed his wife to delete all the chats on his phone. He was extradited to Italy, where he now faces charges of: •M*rd*r •D*struction of a corpse •E*tortion against another woman •S*xual violence. Alice is yet another victim of femicide, but, for some, a femicide unlike the others. For her, there were no marches, no demonstrations, no media outrage, no 24-hour news coverage, no daily interviews with relatives. Because Alice was probably r*ped and then brutally k*lled by an African immigrant and this, it seems, must remain in silence.
