Without a doubt, the most significant legal fight I have been a part of was not representing billionaires or presidents, which I have done, but representing this pastor and his church. John MacArthur’s insistence in the simple truth that the church is essential was one of the most significant theological and legal stands for the sanctity of the church’s authority and protected free exercise from the state’s interference of the 21st century. In the face of immense criticism and false accusations, Pastor John never bothered to care what his critics said—often never even answered them as he considered it a waste of time. He never wavered. He focused solely on what God required of him and was the very definition of a Shepherd. Many are eulogizing Pastor John as internationally renowned, but he was not a celebrity pastor. He was a humble and gracious teacher and witness to the goodness of God. He used every moment to proclaim the truth of the gospel and make the name of Christ renowned and glorified. It was the privilege of my lifetime to see first-hand his testimony of faithful trust in God’s sovereignty. He will continue to inspire me and countless others to run our race well and always live in light of eternity. I will dearly miss my pastor and my friend. I look forward to seeing him again in eternity together with Christ our Lord.
