The Jedwabne massacre took place #OTD 10 July 1941 It has has become a symbol for Poles turning on their Jewish neighbors during the Holocaust and participating in the murder. Less than a month after the German occupation of the area, the town's Poles, without any assistance or guidance by the Germans, rounded up their Jewish neighbors and brutally murdered them. Righteous Among the Nations Aleksander and Antonina Wyrzykowski, who lived in a nearby village, sheltered six survivors of the massacre.
