Italy 1944
An American GI named William, stumbled across a wounded German soldier barely breathing. Instead of leaving him, William tore his own sleeve and wrapped the wound, and whispered in broken German, "no more dying today."
The German teen was 17 and years later would write in his memoir, "The man I was supposed to kill saved my life instead."
