In 2006, a Filipino fisherman found a 34kg (75-pound) pearl but didn’t know its value. He stored it under his bed as a lucky charm for a decade. Later, it was appraised at approximately $93 million, ranking among the largest pearls ever discovered.
The pearl's true worth was revealed after a fire at the fisherman's home prompted him to seek help from authorities, who then identified it as a potentially record-breaking pearl. It is a Tridacna pearl, also known as a clam pearl, formed within a giant clam. The pearl is now housed in the City Hall of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The pearl is now a tourist attraction, drawing visitors to the City Hall of Puerto Princesa.
