I was born and raised in New York City. This is the city my Jewish parents fled to when they had to escape the Islamic Regime. The city my Holocaust survivor neighbors fled to when they had nowhere left to go after their families were murdered in Auschwitz. The city so closely tied to Jewish identity and religious freedom that a Jewish poet is quoted on the Statue of Liberty. I love New York City. And today, I am utterly terrified to see so many New Yorkers support Zohran Mamdani—a pro-jihadist antisemite who represents the absolute opposite of everything New York City stands for. A man who aligns himself with those who cheered on 9/11 as the terrorist hijackers flew airplanes into the Twin Towers. A man who normalizes the use of the term “Intifada”—a rally cry for the violent murder and genocide of Jews. Just look at London and Paris. New York is in danger. A very real, very present danger. We’ve seen how this ends. We’ve seen where this goes. Mamdani is just the beginning. Wake up. @persianjewess
