#OTD June 23, 1626:
A vendor, slitting open a giant codfish at Cambridge fish market, finds a rancid, half-digested copy of a volume of the martyr John Frith’s shorter works in its belly.
John Frith was imprisoned in a fish-cellar in Oxford and later burned at the stake. The texts were published as a book the next year with a preface written by Thomas Goad. Vox Piscis or The Book-Fish.
