MARCUS EVANS KIA 1967 🇺🇸🇺🇸Corporal Marcus “Mack” Evans was known for repeating one line to his soaked, exhausted platoon: “The rain will stop.” It became a motto — hope whispered between shell craters and jungle patrols. During a nighttime ambush, Mack was shot while defending a comrade trapped in the open. His last words weren’t a cry or a command. He just smiled through the pain and whispered again, “The rain will stop.” His platoon etched those words into a piece of shrapnel and left it at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial years later.
