There comes a fracture in time,
a still, hard moment where a person must choose between the hollow music of indulgence, and the grave rhythm of responsibility.
One life says: consume.
Float from pleasure to pleasure like a ghost haunting your own body.
No roots. No weight. No witness to your becoming.
Freedom, they call it but it’s freedom like a man adrift at sea: unchained, yes, but dying of thirst.
The other life says: build.
Put your hands to the earth and shape something real.
Let others depend on you.
Let your name mean shelter to someone else.
This is the great division:
To remain an echo of your appetites,
or to become the architect of legacy.
Only one road ends in depth.
The other loops forever, back into yourself,
smaller each time.
