Black Hawk Down: Delta Force Sergeant First Class Jim Smith, operator/sniper Somalia. Sergeant First Class James A. Smith distinguished himself in gallantry in action against a hostile enemy force on October 3rd and 4th 1993, while serving as a member of a sniper team during operation UNSOM II in Mogadishu, Somalia. Sergeant Smith gained fame as a member of Delta Force who was aboard Super 61, the first helicopter that was shot down in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993. Jim then bravely defended the helicopter and his comrades from onslaught of enemy combatants, receiving a gunshot wound to the left shoulder from an AK47. God Bless Our Vets!
