Prisoners constructed much of the camp and its furniture.
Master blacksmith Jan Liwacz was arrested in Oct. 1939 for burning an effigy of Hitler. In June 1940 he was sent to Auschwitz, where he worked manufacturing ironwork, including these objects for Kommandant Rudolf Höss.
