I hate to admit it, but I've been guilty of this at different times in my life 😢🙏
Are you ashamed of Jesus?
Before you say “No,” have you ever considered the subtle ways we might act ashamed of our faith? Sometimes, it’s not outright denial but small choices that distance us from boldly living for Christ. Here are three subtle ways this can happen:
Staying Silent About Faith at Work
Avoiding conversations about your beliefs or not mentioning how your faith shapes your decisions can signal discomfort. If we hesitate to share how Jesus guides us, we risk prioritizing worldly approval over honoring Him (Mark 8:38).
Blending In to Avoid Standing Out
When we conform to cultural norms that clash with our faith, like laughing at crude jokes or dodging moral discussions, we may be shrinking back from reflecting Christ’s light. Being ashamed of Jesus can mean choosing to fit in rather than standing firm (Matthew 5:16).
Avoiding Discussions of Faith with Friends
Steering clear of sharing your beliefs with close friends, even when opportunities arise, can reflect hesitation. If we shy away from mentioning Jesus in personal relationships, we might be showing shame in associating with Him (1 Timothy 2:8).
These moments matter. Jesus said, “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory” (Luke 9:26). Let’s examine our hearts and live boldly for Him!
