The world’s oldest Christian monastery is being shut down by an Islamic regime.
Egypt has ordered the immediate closure and confiscation of Saint Catherine’s Monastery to turn it into a ‘museum’.
Located at the foot of Mount Sinai and dating back to the 6th century, it is the world’s oldest continuously functioning Christian monastery.
Parts of the oldest complete copy of the Bible are also located there, which the expelled monks were not allowed to take.
