STORYTIME
🌹 "Whispers of the Wind" 🌹
There was a man who often visited his sister’s grave, a quiet corner of the cemetery where the wind seemed to carry memories. He’d kneel beside her stone, fingers tracing the letters of her name, and speak as if she were just beside him, listening. He shared his burdens, his choices, his doubts—always asking for her guidance, her help.
The grave never spoke.
But there were always signs.
A single white flower blooming near the stone where none had been. A bird landing softly on the bench nearby. A sudden breeze that felt like a breath across his skin. He believed it was her, answering in the only ways she could.
Then one day, his heart torn by a decision, he came with a question he hadn’t asked before.
“Is she the one?” he whispered, eyes heavy with love and confusion. “Have I found the right soul to walk this life with?”
But this time, the wind stayed still. No bird. No bloom. No whisper.
The silence frightened him. He had learned to lean on signs more than on his own heart. And so, though he loved the woman deeply, he let her go—believing her absence was a message from the sister he trusted more than his own emotions.
Still, he returned to the grave.
Time passed, and so did seasons. One evening, worn from work and weighed down by years of wondering, he fell asleep at her gravestone, his head resting gently against it.
In that dreamlike moment, he felt a hand—soft, warm—on his shoulder. He turned, and there she was. His sister. Radiant, peaceful.
She spoke in a voice like wind through the trees.
“I didn’t answer that day,” she said, “because I didn’t need to. You had already found her. You had love. Real, deep, quiet love. And I knew you would be okay. That someone else would care for you when I no longer could.”
He woke with tears on his cheeks. The grave stood silent again, but this time, its silence was filled with meaning.
And heartbreak.
He had let the woman go.
He had let fear guide him instead of faith.
She had moved away. He didn’t reach out. Ashamed. Afraid it was too late.
Years passed.
One day, in a city not his own, he wandered into a quiet coffee shop between meetings. And there—sitting alone, stirring her cup without sipping—was her.
Older now. Softer. But those eyes...
Those same beautiful, sorrowful eyes.
She saw him. Time stopped. They froze—two statues cast in memory and chance.
He crossed the room, heart pounding, and stood before her.
“I don’t know if you’ll ever forgive me,” he whispered, voice trembling. “I was too blind to see... too deaf to hear.”
She said nothing at first. But her hands shook. Her eyes brimmed. And then, silently, she began to cry.
He did too.
He held her—gently, reverently—as if he might break her if he tried too hard to fix what was lost.
And in that embrace, she didn’t speak. She didn’t need to.
Because in his heart, he knew.
She had waited. All these years, through all the silence.
She had waited.
