How To Make Hollyhock Dolls
Children young and old have been making hollyhock dolls for centuries. Don't forget to say thank you to the plant and leave lots of blossoms on.
Pick a fully opened hollyhock flower and turn it upside down to form the skirt.
Pinch out the pistil and stamens as needed.
Thread a cocktail stick through the skirt top to the hem and thread on as many blossoms as you wish.
Choose another blossom or flower bud for the doll's body. Leave about 1/4 inch at the top of the toothpick to secure the doll's head.
Once you've chosen a bud or seed pod to use for the doll's head, experiment with different coloured flowers to create a fashionable hat.
