One of the most highly decorated naval officers in U.S. history and one of the true heroes of World War II was Vice Admiral John Bulkeley.
During World War II, Bulkeley was in command of a Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron when he successfully performed the daring rescue of General Douglas MacArthur and Philippine President Quezon from the Philippines, two years later on D-Day, Bulkeley was instrumental in the Invasion of Normandy.
