This photo give you an idea just how big the coke bottle sized 30-mm shells are for the A-10's General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger. The GAU-8/A is highly accurate and capable of firing up to 3,900 rounds per minute with reliable performance. Its 30-mm shells have twice the range, half the time to target, and three times the mass of the projectiles used in similar close air support aircraft. In other words it's a beast!
