The American animated show Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999-2002) that was created and directed by John Russell Dilworth has traumatized for good a generation of us millennials growing up in the 90s. The cartoon shows its protagonist, a seemingly scared pupper named 'Courage', face his worst nightmares come to life in the ‘Middle of Nowhere,’ where he stayed with Muriel and Eustace Bagge, an elderly couple. Eustace, the grumpy ol’ greedy man, hates Courage and calls him stupid. The head writer of the show, David Stephen Cohen, has died due to cancer at the age of 58, further traumatizing the fans who have been awaiting the cartoon’s return since forever now. Best remembered for Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cohen also has writing credits on shows like Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, animated ALF series, and more. Cohen’s LinkedIn bio mentions him as a freelance songwriter (lyricist) and composer as well since 1989. The legendary writer also supported causes including child refugees. Sadly, his LinkedIn profile is a reminder that sometimes the best work in the industry doesn’t translate into social media fame and that doesn’t really matter; however, barely any followers on the professional network platform tell something in whispers.
