A senior U.S. official stated that today’s attack marks the start of a sustained campaign against the Houthis, expected to last days or weeks.
President Trump ordered the Pentagon to prepare attack plans weeks ago after relisting the Houthis as a terrorist organization. The only question was timing.
Trump approved the plan on Friday afternoon, with the final order given on Saturday. Only a few key allies were informed in advance, while others, including senior members of Congress, were notified as the attack began.
