Raised in Alabama, Alton Delmore (right) and younger brother Rabon molded blues and country gospel into a lithe, driving sound that influenced hundreds of country musicians who heard them on the Opry (1933-38) and on record. Ultimately, Alton wrote more than a thousand songs.
