This team of people moved mountains in #WNC. By the time the first wave of volunteers with SFRO left the ground, these were the stats. - Average of 48 air Sorties daily. - Total of 1200 Sorties over 25 days. - 2-3 million pounds of supplies delivered. - 200 bottles of Oxygen delivered to Buncombe county EMS and local residents. - Provided power to three large community centers in the mountains. - Delivered Thousands of vials of insulin and diabetic supplies to those stuck in the mountains. - Delivered thousands of pounds of agricultural supplies to farms cut off from access. - Provided clean water solutions to schools and assisted living facilities. - Conducted count rescue and relief operations both ground and air. - received a FAA notum declaring our HLZ an official Airfield. Which means we had our own air traffic controllers to deconflict airspace. The volunteers of SFRO showed up, and provided pinpoint assistance and support to the residents of WNC when local county EMS were overwhelmed. We were there before @fema and the volunteer efforts of NGOs have done 100% more than FEMA did or is doing. I am honored and humbled to get to say I was part of this operation. I’m even more honored to say we are still going strong in the region working to rebuild homes for those who have lost everything.
