Feminist Turned Housewife:
Growing up I had a father that was never home because he always at work, and a mother who really never wanted to be a mom.
Feminism was so easy for me to accept because I had always been just doing stuff on my own, I had to be independent, I had no one I could depend on even if I wanted. It made me a bitter teenager, angry and confused, but I had no idea what I was so mad and confused about. I was a rough strong independent woman, the perfect candidate for feminism.
And that is exactly who I became.
Being angry and rough was my protective mechanism of choice. In reality I was just scared, and confused, I wanted nothing more than to matter for someone.
This is the reality of many girls who are raised by feminist mothers, women who deep down despise motherhood and hate being limited by it. Every day I’d hear about how she was a fool to have children so young, how I shouldn’t waste my best years on marriage and children, how because of me, she couldn’t follow her dreams, she had to put the things she really wanted on pause because of me, who clearly wants the really important thing.
How foolish is it to say these things to a child and not expect said child to feel guilty and at fault? After all, it was my fault, my existence hindered her.
This and many other reasons are why I hate feminism. It poisons women for generations. It blinds them, it makes them bitter and miserable. Young girls deserve so much more, they deserve so much better, than to feel like a burden to the women tasked with protecting and loving them.
