The sets for the movie "The Lord of the Rings", 2000
Perhaps the most impressive deceptions of vision were the filming of giant fortresses, they were not computer graphics, almost all towers and fortresses shown in the movie, reduced copies created by hand.
All the sets were made by the masters from WETA Workshop.
This is a real center of creative design and physical effects, awarded with an Oscar.
These guys are best known for their work on the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) and The Hobbit trilogies directed by Peter Jackson.
WETA Workshop provided creatures and characters, makeup and prosthetics, environments, miniatures, props, weapons and armor for the films. 48,000 individual items were created for the Lord of the Rings trilogy alone.
