What is this tangled mess?
It's a ball of fibreglass found in a farmer's field in Iowa after a wind turbine, for which she had signed a lease, burned and the detritus was spread over her land, there to remain in amongst the crops and rendering the ground unfit for grazing. The self-immolation in May this year was the second turbine on her land to occur; there was one last year, too.
It's the subject of STT's piece today, and put us in mind of the farmer from Wisconsin who wrote, in 2007, 'What Have I Done? For any of our followers who don't know this piece, we will put it up separately.

But think of the government subsidies, these companies are getting to put these wind turbines up. Just because they cause a little bit of pollution and you can't use the land for years that's no big deal, we're getting free green energy. Cool
