On this day 28 years ago, Ukraine lost its nuclear power status. June 1, 1996
According to the Budapest Memorandum, Ukraine handed over its last nuclear missiles to Russia.
At that time, our country had 130 SS-19s, 46 SS-24s, up to 43 Tu-95MS and Tu-160s, up to 2,156 strategic nuclear warheads and up to 4,200 tactical nuclear warheads.
And the guarantees of security and territorial integrity that were provided to Ukraine in this memorandum are simply ridiculous to recall today.
