Former bike mechanic Steve McQueen was synonymous with Triumph. The bike that he rides in 1963’s The Great Escape is a modified Triumph TR6 Trophy which was painted black to resemble a German BMW. Bud Ekins who actually performs the famous barbed wire leap stunt, was a Triumph dealer
