Worked at an Ace Hardware with an old WWII JarHead. He seldom talked about his experiences overseas until we were alone in the store. Then the stories would come pouring out, almost as a cathartic for him. Understood why he HATED the japs and Spam. Try eating Spam and rice everyday...for months!
