Exclusive photos were received from Ryan Samsel's prison cell at the FDC in Philadelphia, showing a small cell with a constant light, a thin blue mattress, no sheets or blankets, and no clothing. He was kept in this cell for five months straight. Ryan Samsel stated that similar conditions were experienced in a Virginia jail, where he was kept in a "booking hard cell" with no phone, no commissary, no clothing, constant surveillance, and the light on 24/7. Ryan Samsel claims that he was deprived of books, letters, photos, and was provided a yellow bucket as his toilet. Ryan Samsel believes that he was tortured by the government to make him provide information about the Proud Boys.
