Kobzar is a Ukrainian folk singer and musician. Kobzars were the creators, custodians and transmitters of traditions in the form of historical songs, thoughts, as well as tales and legends, accompanied by the playing of the kobza, lyre or bandura.
They preserved and passed on to the next generations the most important knowledge about the past and worldview of our ancestors.
It is also known that the Kobzars developed a talent for characterization and were often scouts for the Cossacks. Their help was especially important during the liberation struggle against foreigners. Kobzar could go to any area without arousing the suspicion of the authorities and find out important information.
