Millennials are increasingly choosing not to have children, influenced by a series of pervasive societal messages.
What are some of these lies that we have been propagandized to believe? Here is a list of some:
1. Climate Change Anxiety: Millennials have been uniquely targeted by messages of impending ecological doom. This constant narrative that the planet is on the brink of disaster has fostered a sense of futility and pessimism about bringing children into the world. The world should have ended multiple times by now, and yet here we are… still
2. Economic Pressures: Unprecedented levels of student loan debt have placed immense financial strain on millennials. The narrative that education is always worth the debt has proven problematic, leaving many feeling financially unprepared and unable to take on parenting because they can’t even afford to support themselves let alone a family. Not to mention how many women are miserable having to be at work, instead of home with their children, they have student loans to pay, they can’t afford to not work, when all they desire is to be home with their babies.
3. Changing Views on Feminism: Like generations before them, millennial women have been encouraged to prioritize independence and careers over motherhood. This shift has positioned children as obstacles to personal and professional goals, instead of seeing children as the blessing and gift they are.
4. Access to Birth Control and Abortion: Empowered by feminist movements, many millennial women view their fertility as an obstacle, a crutch they must deal with and rid themselves of, which leads to women not prioritizing motherhood and the blessing it really is.
5. Secularism: With declining religious affiliation, fewer millennials find meaning in traditional values that promote procreation as a virtue. In a world that hates God, of course it has to hate all that God gives us as blessings and gifts and that includes children.
6. Delaying Life Milestones: Educational and career ambitions are driving millennials to postpone marriage and, consequently, parenthood. This delay often results in fewer children or the decision to remain childless.
These factors combine to create a generational shift in attitudes towards parenthood. Years of propaganda have led us here, more than any other generation, millennials have been taught that their only concern and focus should be themselves. The goal is the destruction of the nuclear family, and in doing so, leading all of us down a path of loneliness, misery and despair. Humans need community, purpose and aim besides our own personal pleasures, a life of vanity is a waste, all that walk this path will never find true joy.
Ditch the lies. Give your life to Christ, get married and have some babies.
