VERY ALARMING: NY Gov. Kathy Hochul and Democrats introduced the Equal Rights Amendment which could prevent parents from having a say on whether their children undergo gender reassignment surgery. Under disguised of "combating discrimination" the proposal's language is broad and would open the door to parents being kept in the dark over their child’s medical procedures, including gender reassignment surgery. Also, the proposal would mandate schools to permit individuals assigned male at birth to participate in girls' sports teams, potentially weakening laws governing the legal age for purchasing alcohol or marijuana, as well as those concerning elder abuse and statutory rape, on the grounds that they “discriminate” based on age. If passed, the amendment will strip parents from rights over their children and it will give authority over children to the state.
