BREAKING: Democrat from Illinois, Rita Mayfield sponsored a bill to eliminate law that imposes life sentences for repeat, violent criminals.
In Illinois, someone convicted three times of serious felonies like murder, aggravated kidnapping or sexual assault faces an automatic life sentence under the state’s habitual criminal law.
But they won’t have to worry anymore because legislation aims to repeal habitual criminal laws, including penalties for repeat offenders of serious crimes and firearm charges, if it passes out of the House Judiciary-Criminal Committee.
Mayfield claims that the bill will save the state money. I guess the safety of her constituents isn't so important to her.
