Who is Yahya Sinwar? Why all the Fuss?
Did you know Sinwar was released from prison in 2011 in an exchange of 1000 convicted criminals for one abducted 19-year-old Israeli soldier? The soldier's name - Gilad Shalit.
Do you think whoever negotiated that deal for Israel could have done a better job? 1000 for 1?
Hamas leaders have said they "learned" from this exchange the value of even one prisoner.
Back to Sinwar, he received four life sentences in 1989 for the killing of two Israeli soldiers and four Palestinians he considered collaborators.
He served 22 years before his release in 2011.
In 2017, he was elected as Hamas' leader claiming to pursue "peaceful, popular resistance." That soon changed.
What lessons can Israel learn from the "Sinwar story?" Are exchanges of prisoners for hostages just kicking the problem down the road?
Ironically, while in prison, physicians saved Sinwar's life by removing a brain tumor. Too bad Israeli prisons are not as "inhumane" as the Haters claim.
And the nephew of Sinwar's prison dentist is now a Hostage in Gaza.
