In 2023 World Population Review, Qatar scored an abysmal 25/100 on the Human Freedom Index - poor enough to rank 149 of 168 countries evaluated - 3 spots lower than the failed state of Libya (146) and just ahead of authoritarian banana-republic Venezuela (151) The Qatari government donated $6,329,283 to Harvard over the past two years ending 12/2023, including a $1,104,180 donation in May of 2023. What does all of that money actually buy? Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression 2023 Campus Report: In this year’s FIRE report, Harvard’s speech climate didn’t merely rank dead last among those of the 248 participating colleges. It was also the first school that FIRE has ever given an “Abysmal” rating for its speech climate, scoring it zero on the 100-point scale (even that was a generous upgrade, as its actual composite score was -10). Harvard’s abysmal rating is based partly on a series of censorship incidents at the school and partly on its students’ answers to questions in a national survey of 55,000 students. At Harvard, three-quarters of students didn’t feel comfortable publicly disagreeing with their professor on a controversial topic. The Harvard brand has been totally destroyed… Perhaps it’s time to reconsider allowing authoritarian regimes to give away their blood money in the US, and certainly not to allow illiberal regimes to participate in any type of influence operations targeted at our vulnerable young people… FWIW: At the time of her hiring as the President of Harvard, Claudine Gay’s entire career-CV (11 papers total in “DEI Studies”) was less than the average yearly output of Lawrence Summers, the previous (White Male) Harvard President…unbelievable
