Absolutely true… especially where our son was concerned. When he was a teenager and he’d do something particularly stupid and he’d have to come up with a wild assed story, we’d listen to what he concocted open mouthed. When he was through spinning his yarn, Bill and I looked at one another and Bill told him exactly what he thought really happened. It was then Bobby’s turn to stare open mouthed. Bobby actually asked me, “Mom, how did he know?”. Bill just shook his head and told Bobby that he (Bill) was 13 once upon a time. As for our daughter, Shannon Mulcahey Wong, she was the worst liar on the planet so she (mostly) didn’t bother. There are a few of her lies that, to this day, she still doesn’t know that we know!
