THIS was my daughter when she was 18 months old. She escaped at 5:30 in the morning. She moved a chair to the front door, put a step stool on the chair, grabbed a wire coat hanger, climbed on the chair/stool and used the coat hanger to pull down the bolt. She then moved the chair out of the way and was on her way to Suzie’s house (down the hill and around the corner) to play on the swings. I received a call at around 6:00… Susan was asking me if I knew where my daughter was. Imagine my reaction when I found out she had escaped. Our pediatrician said we’d have to put a lock on the OUTSIDE of her door because there’s no containing a budding escape artist. We had ‘baby in room’ signs on her windows. So if you’re wondering… this is why I have white hair and am a bit crazed!
