"The Great Escape" star Charles Bronson added that living on his knees and breathing in that dust, unable to shake it off, was terrible. Bronson spoke of being born with a number two shovel in his mouth instead of a spoon. He was a loner, and his poverty-stricken family lived in a town locals described as a hopeless place with no trees, drinking water, and sidewalks. The actor confessed he had to wear a dress to school sometimes because those were the only available hand-me-downs from his siblings, who were mostly girls.
