Many years ago, when my brother was serving in Viet Nam and wasn’t going to be home for Christmas, I packed up an artificial tree with lights and ornaments to put on the tree and presents and a Nativity scene to put under it… and lots of cookies for him and his friends. I was surprised to learn that the tree I sent was the only one that was received in Chu Lai (sp) that year. George, being George, invited everyone in to share the festivities and the Christmas spirit. He survived Viet Nam but we lost him to cancer 8 years ago.
