Palm Sunday
It is a day to remember the triumphant entry of King Jesus. That is always a joyous time to remember. Even if that leads to His death soon after, it was necessary that He was proclaimed King first.
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Zechariah 9:9
Jesus came as King. He remained King, even if He did not take on the pomp of a King. He had more important things to do than impress people.
He came to purchase our salvation and as King, Jesus died.
"Pilate therefore said to Him, 'Are You a king then?' Jesus answered, 'You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.'”
John 18:37
Jesus rose and ascended as King.
"The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God."
Acts 1:1-3
And Jesus will return as King!
"Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He Who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
Revelation 19:11-16
There a stark difference between the first coming of King Jesus and His return!
There is a stark difference between when He first road triumphantly on a donkey, and when He comes on His white horse with the armies of Heaven following Him!
It is important to choose Jesus as your King, while you still have a chance. He came to seek and save the lost. But if you remain lost, by ignoring that salvation, the day will come when it will be too late!
"Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Hebrews 2:1-4
Saying that we love Jesus means nothing if we do not also obey Jesus. That is why it matters that we accept Him as King, through repentance and full surrender.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments."
John 14:15
Stay strong! Jesus is King!
