Changing Weather Changes Things
Though I started out early this morning, I had to stop before my destination. I have an unexpected wait, but I am doing some writing and editing in the meantime.
I am thankful that our local grocery store has a loft, with tables and chairs and power outlets. I used to work on my books quite often here. It feels a bit nostalgic.
Some days go as planned. Sometimes they are better than expected. And sometimes they have to be adjusted because of circumstances outside of our control.
But God is still in the midst of it. He wasn't caught off guard. He never is. He is right with me, as I wait, write and in all I do. His presence is my strength and comfort.
This week had been going smoother than we even hoped for. The gorgeous, warm weather made it a true joy to be out walking in it and meeting with friends and family.
That winter showing itself again today is less of a surprise than all of those Spring-like days we have been experiencing and enjoying.
There is a reason that most people in the Northwoods have at least one 4 wheel drive vehicle. It is not a luxury up here.
No matter how many times it is preferable in the winter to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle, there are some times that it is essential--our unpredictable weather is one of them.
Even when they are out snowplowing in the midst of the snowfall, they will not get to side roads right off. And there are times that quite a lot of snow builds up before they get to all the places needing to be plowed.
With a 4 wheel drive vehicle there is the ability to plow on through what a regular car may be stranded by. The Northwoods cannot just close down because it is snowing and the roads have not all been cleared yet.
I compare dealing with the snowfall when we had 4 wheel drive vehicles, and without one. What once was not even an issue becomes one. And when we need to be somewhere and we cannot just reschedule, the choice is to wait on the snowplow, or wait on someone with a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
For us it doesn't happen often that we cannot wait it out, as most of our work in the winter is at home. But when it does happen, it reminds me again how much of a blessing those vehicles are to the Northwoods!
Soon the snow will be plowed off the roads as it has stopped snowing now and it is not expexted to start up again until late afternoon.
Thankfully the white out of this morning has cleared up. The skies may be cloudy, but with the snow stopped, the clean up can go a lot faster.
Soon the roads will be plowed, the driveway shoveled, our paths around the farm will be all shoveled, and it will be back to what it was before this snowfall. Except those people craving more snow, got more snow to play in.
Stay strong! No matter what the day holds, when God hold you, there is peace in that.
